Celebrating these two and their Door County wedding on Washington Island during peak lavender bloom was definitely a highlight in my career!
Lexi and Marcus wanted a romantic and intimate celebration on the island. They incorporated soft lavender, grays, hints of green and watercolor elements into their design. Lexi’s great grandparents were watercolor artists so that was an important element to their overall wedding vision!
There was no chance of rain for their day all week until that afternoon. As soon as they said their vows and the ceremony ended, it began to lightly rain for a few minutes. The rain storm that was headed our way ended up going completely around us, leaving everyone dry and giving us stunning storm clouds in the distance!
They timed their wedding date perfectly with the lavender blooms! We, of course had to take the cherry train and stop at a lavender field for portraits! There are so many options on Washington Island for photos. From beautiful landscapes to Nordic architecture. We also stopped at the Stavkirke Chapel for a few portraits. This was a must for Marcus and I absolutely love that we did his portraits here!
Their dinner reception was held at Hotel Washington and I loved the intimacy during their speeches. The room was filled with their closest friends and family and they didn’t even need a microphone! Everyone was able to pitch into the conversation and it felt like a large family dinner!
