You're planning one of the biggest days of your lives and you have no clue who would be best to capture this special day. Today I am going to give you some thoughts to think about when choosing a photographer for your wedding day!

Look beyond their Instagram photos.

Instagram only shows you a portion of the photographers portfolio. There is so much more to a wedding day. A wedding gallery itself contains hundreds of images. Ask to view a full wedding day and see if their style is consistent. Look for the emotional connections in their images. Pay attention to how they accomplished telling the couples story and try to imagine how they would document your story.

Do they travel?

Are you looking for a photographer who is local to that area or is their a photographer you have dreamed about capturing your day that may be a bit further? Ask if they are willing to travel and do they have any traveling fees.

What is their personality?

Find someone you are comfortable with since you will be along side each other on your wedding day. We find it helpful to schedule a phone consultation before you book. This gives you an idea of who we are and vice versa. Reading reviews on the photographer also helps give you an idea of their personality and how other couples felt working with them on their wedding day!

Know your style.

Does the photographers style match the venue? If the venue is a bit more rustic and does not provide a lot of natural light, then a light and airy photographer may not match the style you are looking for. We suggest looking beyond photography trends and focus on what style you will be drawn to for generations to come. We consider ourselves to be timeless, genuine, fine art photographers.

Book an engagement session with them.

This will help you get to know each other in person and understand their shooting style better. We offer complementary engagement sessions in all of our wedding packages. Most of our couples haven't had professional photos captured since their high school senior photos. We have found that our couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera during their session and have more confidence in posing on their wedding day!

What is their turnaround time?

Many wedding photographers have different turnaround times. Some photographers can take up to six months to deliver a wedding gallery. Find out their average turnaround time and ask if they offer sneak peaks. Our agreement states that we strive to have your gallery completed within 8-10 weeks, while we typically deliver galleries within 4-6 weeks and offer sneak peaks within one week!
